First introduction to martial Arts has taken at school. Few years later his first teachers, Isaac Florentine Sensei and Yossi Shechnowitz Sensei opened a Dojo in T.A. and Itzik followed by them. In 1988 his teachers stopped to teach in Israel and Itzik Cohen has constantly continued to practice in Sanshin-Kan Honbu Dojo – Haifa, in the authorization of Effi Schleyen Sensei, head of the organization in Israel.

Itzik has firstly met his teacher, Tamas Weber Sensei, at early 80th while "Gashuku" (training camp) was held in Israel. Weber Sensei is a determine man of action with rich military combative past who has met well known Karate teachers in Europe as well as in Japan. He has instructed Police and Armed Forces in close combat and self-defense in various countries and well recognized as one of the Europe's premier close combat experts. His practical approach is well reflected in Sanshin-Kan Karate style. In 1985 Itzik Cohen was first visited in his teacher "Honbu Dojo" (maim branch) in Europe and since then he tightly follows his teacher way.
Itzik: "As most people, I've had many teachers during life, part instructed one course only and others have taught me few years, never the less, few people are privileged to be guided by a teacher who knows and teaches them since there young innocence days through a proximally 30 years period and it looks like the fountain water has become clearer as more as time floats. It is a privileged to be part of rare group of people who are accompanied by such teacher for a complete life cycle".

In 1981 he was recruited to I.D.F. and continued to practice during service. After completing the military service Itzik had returned to full activity and started to teach Karate in schools.

In 1987 Itzik opened a DOJO with his teacher, Florentine Sensei and taught kids group (among them there were few hyperactive kids).

In February 1988 Itzik was certificated to instruct self defense courses by the sport & physical education Authority \ Wingate Institute.

In 1996-1997 he was certificated as Karate Instructor by the coach & Instructors school \ Net Holman \ Wingate Institute.

During the years he had experienced in various arts as Tai-Chi, Aikido and involves in Health Gymnastics.

In August 1999 first contact was established with the respected organization: "The Society for the Preservation and Promotion of the Ancient Martial Arts of the Ryukyu Islands: RYU-KYU KOBUDO HOZON SHINKO KAI "and Itzik has become a member and started practicing Ryukyu Kobudo.

On June 2006 Itzik received Roku-Dan (6th Dan) from his Karate teacher, the head of SANSHIN-KAN organization.

In 2002 Itzik traveled to The "Honbu Dojo" (Main Dojo) in Okinawa and stayed for two months to study and practice. Then he continued to mainland Japan and took part in International Seminar of Budo Culture, organized by Nippon Budokan Foundation with the cooperation of International Budo University and supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

Current grades are 6th Dan in Sanshin-Kan Karate, 5th Dan in Self-Defense and Close Combat and 2nd Dan in Ryukyu-Kobudo.

Itzik follows his teacher and holds practical approach that combines traditional karate with the combination of modern knowledge.
